Supplementary Law and Order

"On my watch, our City will not be held hostage by special interest groups, thugs, or through acts of terrorism.

I will work with Council to protect the citizens of Toronto."

Supplementary Law and Order

Peaceful public assembly, demonstrations, and protests are all legitimate forms of expression — rights that all Canadians enjoy as guaranteed by the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

The Charter does not protect threats or acts of violence, the destruction of property, assaults, or any other unlawful conduct.

When individuals damage public and private property, burn police cars, endanger public safety, block roads and expressways, and otherwise endanger the lives of other people, they should and will be arrested, charged, and held accountable by due process of the Law.

The type of wanton damage to public and private property witnessed during the June 2010 G20 Summit in Toronto, with clearly unlawful conduct which unduly prolonged the demonstrations, and caused inconvenience and expense to the taxpayers, will simply not be tolerated. The citizens of Toronto deserve to be compensated, and I will aggressively seek to have the City and individual business owners reimbursed for the expenses and losses incurred.

On my watch, our City will not be held hostage by special interest groups, thugs, or through acts of terrorism.

I will work with Council to protect the citizens of Toronto.

It is vitally important to maintain law and order in society to facilitate dynamic and peaceful assembly for all of the people who make up the citizenry of Toronto.
